Central Georgia District Medical Health Team under the leadership of Elder Doctor Charlie Smith, Superintendent and Lady Zellene Smith, District First Lady has implemented a quarterly health forum.

Our first health forum since the inception of the Central Georgia District consisted of two topics: Hypertension and Diabetes and were presented May 28, 2016 at our 6th quarterly assembly Titled: It’s Reaping Time….Making An Impact. Sis. Katrice Mackey, Faith Babies Ministries, Fort Valley, Georgia lectured on hypertension, causes, what denotes hypertension (elevated blood pressure), complications and results of lack of proper intervention and treatment. Sis. Marlene Hughes, Blood Covenant Ministries, Hawkinsville, Georgia gave an in-depth lecture on diabetes; it’s meaning, signs and symptoms and recommended interventions. The information was well received by the congregation.  Educational materials were distributed.

Our second health forum occurred at our 7th Church of God By Faith quarterly assembly, Titled: Subject Unto the Higher Power on July 30, 2016. Eld. Roy Whitehead, COGBF Cochran, Georgia gave an in- depth lecture regarding the prostate, screening, laboratory values and recommended interventions. A couple of personal prostate issues were shared with the congregation. Questions and Answers were addressed regarding hypertension, diabetes and the prostate by Sis. Jacque Hudson, Medical Team Coordinator and members of Central Georgia District Medical Team.

At our 8th quarterly assembly, October 29, 2016, Titled: Standing on a Promise. Our health forum consisted of two topics: Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Our second topic: Dementia, its meaning, early signs and symptoms and recommended interventions were addressed by Sis. Janice Bembry, Loose and Bind Ministries, Dublin, Georgia. Questions and Answers were provided by speakers, Sis. Jacque Hudson, Loose and Bind Ministries, Dublin, Georgia and other Medical Health Team members. Educational materials were made available.

During the previous year, some of our accomplishments are availabilities of laboratory jackets, and Medical Health Team bags with COGBF monogram emblem to allow for prompt identification. A Basic CPR class was provided by our very own Sis. Jalana Hudson-Milner, Loose & Bind Ministries at Faith Babies Ministries, Fort Valley, Georgia. Provided follow-up with members having received medical screening at our quarterly assemblies and at our annual Central Georgia District Women’s Conference.

Our goals are to continue to educate God’s people regarding existing health issues and prevention. We will continue to provide individual and group education based on needs of the congregation.

Central Georgia District Medical Team would like to glance back at our 2016 accomplishments and focus on our upcoming 2017 endeavors.
