Lord if I find favor in your sight
Lord please, hear my heart’s cry
I'm desperately waiting to be where you are
I'll cross the hottest desert, I'll travel near or far
For Your glory, I will do anything
Just to see you, to behold you as my King.
That was the prayer of Lady Dorothea Katrice Mackey and she sought a way to give back to the ladies of Faith Babies at Ft. Valley Church of God by Faith. This deed of gratitude would be accomplished through a series of “For His Glory” luncheons. “For Your Glory” by Tasha Cobb is the theme song sung at each luncheon. The women are served by the men of the church.
The décor for each event is thoughtfully designed to reinforce the theme. The speaker for the luncheon on Saturday is most times the speaker for the following Sunday Morning service.
- The following seven topics and décor and accompanying scriptures were used:
- “Broken for His Glory” – The tables were beautifully adorned with tall clear vases, each holding a broken plate.
- “Changed for His Glory” – Butterflies were used as lovely creatures of transformation.
- “Restoring Relationships for His Glory” - Paint, varnish, glue, etc. embellished the tables.
- “Sold Out for His Glory” – Sold signs and tickets were used to emphasize the tables.
- “Living for His Glory” - A variety of live plants were used on each table to reinforce the subject of living.
- “Extreme Makeover for His Glory” – Several makeup items were used on each table to support the theme.
- “Seasoned for His Glory” - Various seasonings found in scripture were used on each table. We also were blessed with mason jars of homemade relishes, pickles, etc. made by one of the church mothers.
Speakers have included Evangelist Lorraine “Punch Baldwin, Prophetess Gwendolyn Ware, Dr. Annie Wilder, Mother Delores “Mom” Winans and Lady Katrice Mackey.
Our prayer is that God will continue to bless us as we strive to honor Him in our “For Your Glory” series.
