Evangelist Eleanor Thomas, CGD, SK’s Coordination

Lady Zellene Smith, District First Lady

Elder Dr. Charlie Smith, Superintendent

The Sister Keeper Ministry’s Planning Committee changed our yearly conference strategy from a Friday night Banquet and Saturday Morning Prayer, Worship and Closing Ceremony at a designated Hotel to a One day Saturday Morning Conference, which was held at The Saints In Praise Ministries COGBF, in Byron, Ga. The one-day conference included a Guest Speaker, Drawings and a Chick fil Lay Lunch. The following are specifics about this year’s Sister Keepers Conference:

  • Theme: Behind the Mask “Overcoming Challenges God’s Way”
  • Guest Speaker: Pastor Shawanada Reed
  • Author, Evangelist, Visionaire, & motivational speaker
  • New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 38 Main Street - Lumber City, Ga.

The changes were made following the concerns of our Superintendent, First Lady, and other committee members that many women desired to attend these Spiritual uplifting settings, but can’t always afford the hotel fees, or being away from family overnight, due to possibly understandable reasons. There had been a yearly decrease in attendance, so we made the necessary changes, and the Lord blessed us with over 100 participants including the musicians and the speaker’s guest. We were so blessed at this conference. The Lord really poured out His spirit and the people were blessed. We are looking to do greater things for the Lord in 2020.

2ND YEARLY EVENT: DECEMBER 9, 2019

Sister Keepers Ministry “ Annual Baskets of Cheer” Event

Ft. Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center - Ft. Valley, Ga.

The Sister Keepers collect toiletry items during the year, and cheer-bags are assembled. They include soap, lotions, conditioner, shampoo, shower caps, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, socks, hats, fruit, and peppermint candy canes. The items were bagged for each of the 80 patients at the facility. The Coordinator (Evang. Eleanor Thomas) gave a warm welcome, introduced our Committee members and District’s First Lady that shared the event with us this year. Christmas Carols were sung with the patients joining in, followed by scripture reading and an opening and closing prayer. They were excited to see us, and so were we.

We played Bingo with the patients that were able to come to the cafeteria, many needed our assistance in placing the chips, etc., and special gifts bags were given to all the winners. Everyone present received a Bag of Cheer, and we then proceded to visit the patients that were confined to their bed. Everyone including the Staff received bags and refreshments.  Special thanks to our Sister Keepers and a couple of our Children who helped us pass out the Bags of Cheer. Thank you for an outstanding display of your love for the people of God, who might be away from family during this time, as we celebrate our Lord’s Birth,
